Angry Strikers Fans want the Strikers to play with Huevos! By Burrito

Burrito not write in long times cause he peed-off with Los Estrikers!
The team is playing like poopoo! They need to play with huevos! Don't they know who used to wear the Red and Gold? Don't they know Burrito's compadre Ray Hudson used to wear #4? Or that Teófilo Cubillas used to wear #10?
Burrito ponders, Burrito chews on chew toy, then bites an old chicken bone, then back to chew toy... No, nobody tell them Burrito thinks... Nobody tell them the Strikers once had the great George Best or Der Bomber Gerd Müller. No, if someone tell them then maybe the players would play with their corazones!
Burrito not the only one mad at the Strikers.

Here a carnal called Pabony (like a pony but with an A & B) Rivera even makes up a word for how bad these putos play. "Whooreotious" or somethings like that.
Listen here:
Whooreotious by Pabony-Rivera

Pero that not the only bitching being done in Strikerland, No señor! Here Burrito's amigo and one time Afusionados President Andrew Hazelton talk about how he want to change the pinche U.S. Soccer Federation! That how much he think los Estikers are sucking! Here is a little of what Andrew says on his article called "Where do we go from here?":
"The reality is that professional clubs should create professional players. Universities should create scholar athletes and youth soccer programs should create youth soccer players. To each its own responsibility and they don’t mix well. And it is the dysfunctionality of the league system, allowed by an irresponsible Fed - that is the root cause of the lack of professional player development."

ONE, The Story of a Goal at the Miami International Film Festival

The Soccer movie of the month will not be displayed on the blog itself like the last few times. You'll have to buy a ticket and watch it at a theater and I'll tell you where.
As some of you might know the Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) is going on right now and for those that don't know what I'm talking about:
It's a world-class platform for film and filmmakers promoting Miami as an educational and international film destination. The Festival presents the best of emerging and established film to the local and international community within an educational framework.
For us Soccer fans I will have to recommend ONE, The Story of a Goal (UNO, La Historia de un Gol) by director Carlos Moreno and Gerardo Muyshondt. Run time is 102 minute in Spanish with English subtitles
Here is a synopsis:
In the early 1980s, El Salvador was experiencing the beginning of what would be a harsh 12-year-long civil war. It was also in this time that a group of Salvadoran fútbol players emerged to unite their entire nation with their game. This tiny Central American country’s national team achieved an unforgettable qualification to the 1982 World Cup in Spain, where against the world's strongest soccer lineup they would try to score their first World Cup goal ever. With a homeland ripped apart by conflict and maligned in the international press as a haven for guns and guerrillas, their team’s selection provided hope for all Salvadorans. However, they were defeated by Hungary 10-1 in the first match, and in this game, history’s worst World Cup defeat ever, El Salvador scored their only goal ever in this type of competition. This insightful and honest film recounts a David-and-Goliath story of great hope and terrible disappointment.
You can see this movie at 7:45 PM on Thursday, March 11 at the Regal South Beach 9 or at 9:30 PM on Friday, March 12 at the Tower Theater 2 for more information go HERE

Miami Makes World Cup City Final Cut

We did it! Miami makes the final 18 cities that will host the World Cup games.
Also worth mentioning is the inclusion of Tampa. The other Florida cities, Jacksonville and WC94 host Orlando did not make the final cut.
Other cities eliminated are Chicago, Charlotte, Cleveland, Detroit, Oakland, St. Louis and San Francisco.

Pele and Garrincha, Gods of Brazilian Football

I ran across this BBC documentary about Pele and Garrincha put together in 2002. The film starts off in the 1950's, as Brazil lost in the Maracana versus Uruguay. It follows the careers and lives of Brazilian football stars Pele and Garrincha.
When they played on the same team, they never lost a game but by themselves their lives and careers took diffrent paths.

Pele and Garrincha are both footballing legends in Brazil. The film uses archive footage and details the story of these two men and explains how one became the World's Greatest Soccer player and the other died a broken alcoholic at the age of 49.

See the video below or HERE I highly recommend it!

South Africa's World Cup has its 32 teams

On Friday December 4th we will find out how the group stages will look for the XIX World Cup to take place in South Africa next Summer.

We now know the 32 countries that qualified for the world Cup:

For CONCACAF it was The United States, Mexico and Honduras.

For CONMEBOL it was Brazil, Paraguay, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay.

For Africa it was Algeria, Camerun, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria and the host South Africa.

For Asia it was Australia, North Korea, South Korea and Japan.

For UEFA: England, Denmark, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Italy, Greece Serbia, Portugal, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands,

Oh and Last but not least New Zealand.

There are really no "Virgins" that will participate in the South African World Cup though some might argue Slovakia and Serbia are first timers. The Slovaks were part of Checoslovakia and the Serbs have a long tradition with Yugoslavia and the last WC played as Serbia and Montenegro.

Who will win? My bet is with Spain and Brazil!
