Road Trip to Tampa! Sign up and support Miami FC on July 4, 2010

Folks it's time to sign up! We are a little under a month away from our match versus hated in state rival the Tampa Bay Rowdies! But we need people to commit!
On July 4, 2010 the Miami FC Blues will play the Tampa Bay Rowdies up in Tampa and we need all South Florida soccer fans to travel with the Ultras to support our team. Last time our teams played here in South Florida Tampa's fan group Ralph's Mob came down in numbers so now its our turn to do the same.
To sign up please go to this link http://www.miamisoccerfan.com/Soccer/roadtrip.html If we get enough people we will try to get a bus to take us up there and back. We need all Miami Ultras, Southern Legion, SF3's and soccer fans in general. Let's show our support.

Here is a flashback video of The Ft. Lauderdale Strikers as they defeated the Tampa Bay Rowdies 3-2 in a North American Soccer League playoff match on August 20, 1978 at Lockhart Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

The History of Jizz Rag: Tampa’s new mascot

Jizz rag was born as a white tube sock in the great state of Mascot-achusets, in a knock off nike factory. He grew up in a small town next door to Scroty the Scrotum. The two became close friends, and went to school with him throughout his teenage years. The friendship seemed like it would be life long, I mean Scroty was Jizz rag’s “Old Chub.”

Time went on, and Scroty went off to college at Rhode Island School of Design and Jizz Rag went to community college just outside of Boston. The friendship was strained until Scroty shot one in Jizz Rags face. That was the end of a true friendship between two very mediocre mascots.

Jizz Rag tried to get a job as the mascot for the Chicago White Sox and the Boston Red Sox, but their marketing departments both thought that dying and embroidering a living, breathing sock was just a little inhumane. Needless to say, he was passed over. After that, he was unable to get a job. He spent his next few years living under a bridge being blown into the ocean then used by a plethora of fellow homeless people.

Finally, Jizz Rag ended up in Tampa Bay. Stained by algae and urine, he hitched a ride on a homeless man to the corporate offices of FC Tampa Bay. He was dropped off out front after the homeless man he was with was arrested for possession of crack cocaine. Just as he was left for dead, Tampa’s Director of Marketing found him, lonely and diseased. From there, the rest is history. Tampa finally found a mascot that stank just as much as they do.

Miami FC fans pretty much enjoy poking fun at anything that has to do with the Tampa Bay Rowdies and here is yet another reason...

The Burrito poll's results are in!
Burrito, every-bodies favorite blogging soccer dog asked: Which is Hottererer?
Hot Shot (Miami FC Mascot) or Jessie (Miami FC Hottie) and the 52 people that voted gave Hot Shot only 14 (26%) while Jessie received 38 (73%). So there you have it, Jessie is hottererer then Hot Shot. Sorry Hot Shot.

Miami FC sites voice their opinions on the latest results.

Miami MLS futbolito and Miami Ultras seek South Florida MLS team

Last week the Miami Ultras, South Florida Soccer supporters began their MLS Miami Bid campaign with the launch of the official website http://www.mlsmiamibid.com/ To enhance the launch they also attended MLS futbolito in order to further the awareness of the MLS Miami Bid in South Florida. The Ultras passed out fliers and asked folks to sign up for Miami MLS Season Ticket Dedications. A “season ticket dedication” is basically a pledge that if South Florida does get a Major League Soccer team, that they will buy season tickets. (It's only a promise) We need as many season ticket dedications as possible to enhance support for our case of getting an MLS team in the near future. By doing this we send out a message to investors that South Florida is a good market for Major League Soccer. We believe that in order for MLS to have a true foothold in this country that they need to be in South Florida.

MLS Futbolito is the official 4 vs 4 tournament of Major League Soccer. It consists of a fun soccer tournament that involves 13 communities across the country. The event took place this past Sunday May 23, 2010 at Kendall Soccer Park. For more information on future futbolito city stops go HERE

The Fans that attended futbolito were very supportive and over 150 season ticket dedications were pledged. But our efforts will continue. For more information on future events please follow Miami MLS Bid on Twitter or Facebook and visit the official site.

Miami Ultras own Uncle Ed was invited to play in the celebrity game that was on live TV that same Sunday on Univision's Republica Deportiva. Uncle Ed played with current UNAM Pumas player Francisco "Paco" Palencia, ex Mexico goalie Felix "El Gato" Fernandez , Republica Deportiva's Presidente Fernando Fiore and of course the lovely Senadoras among other.
Here are a few pictures of the game and event:

Here is a video in Spanish during MLS futbolito:
Stay tuned as selected pubs and bars throughout South Florida have come on board to support Miami MLS bid and will cooperate by posting MLS Miami posters and fliers that will help gain awareness in South Florida. These same bars and pubs will host World Cup matches that we will announce shortly. Stay tuned for more MLS Miami events!
